Have you ever seen advertisements claiming “Easy Money” or “Make $10,000 a Month While You Sleep?” Do these quick money schemes really work? Is there such a thing as an easy home business? The world of network marketing is filled with countless online gurus who promote easy home businesses, but what is the real truth?
The truth is - it’s tough (especially when you’re just starting out) and if you’re anything like me, you’re starting out with no money. After all, starting a home business is about making money, not spending it; particularly on products that probably won’t work. In these distressing economic times, is your future something you want to gamble with?
Have you ever tried to start a home business only to give up after a few months? If you have, don’t blame yourself too harshly, because you were set-up to fail. You were told it would be easy - “only a few hours a day” - now you know the truth. It’s not easy at all! It takes a great deal of hard work to operate a home business successfully.
One of the reasons this industry has such a high attrition rate is because most people start out expecting it to be a “piece of cake” - yet they soon find it takes more than just putting up a web page, passing out a few flyers and waiting for things to happen. The phrase “If you build it, they will come” rarely applies to internet traffic.
“If you build it, they will come”
I started working from home after being laid-off from a lucrative job. At first, I spent close to eight hours a day organizing everything I needed to make my home business successful. Now, I allocate two hours a day to maintain the business and two hours a day for market research, personal study and growth. You will have to work hard, as well. The more effort you put in up front - the more return you’ll receive later on.
You’re going to have to get out and hustle. There is no way around that. Social networks are the key.
•Tell everyone what you’re doing
•Tell them why you’re doing it
•Tell them over and over again
It has been my experience that most people won’t be interested in what you’re doing until the third time you tell them.
My friend Tom Sabella from Page2Radio shared a funny story with me about went he started his monthly newsletter. He said,
“…after I sent out the exact same newsletter three months in a row, my friends started telling me how wonderful it was.”
Tom didn’t have the heart to tell them it was the same newsletter they had gotten twice before but never bothered to read.
With internet marketing, there is an immediate learning curve to overcome and it takes time to understand and learn how to implement online strategies to attract people to your business, but you can do it and it won’t cost an arm-and-a-leg.
The good news is, once you get started, it becomes easier and easier. I learned how to do most everything from the “University of Google” and you can too. Just hang in there and don’t quit. Once you start understanding how things work, you’ll be amazed at the results you can achieve over time. Then, and only then, can you start viewing what you’re doing as an easy home business.
