In order to make any business successful through network marketing, your customers must first:
1. Know the business exists
2. Be truly interested in the idea or product
This might sound over simplified, but I assure you; it is that elementary!
As an example, let’s look at your city’s newest health facility. The first concern in network marketing should be to advertise to the public-at-large. The second step would be to target the customers who are actually health conscious consumers.
Step 1: Introduce Your Business
Start by telling everyone what you are doing; either by newspaper ads, radio, online social networks or simply by word-of-mouth (hand out flyers if you have to). Try to recruit friends and family to help. This will ensure a strong loyal base at the grass roots level.
At first, everyone will say they’re going to help, but only a few will actually follow through. Don’t let this discourage you - that’s just how people are. Be assured though, when your business becomes a success, they’ll be eager to help you with whatever you need.
Step 2: Target Your Efforts
After the word has gone out on-the-wire, it’s time to start focusing your efforts toward the people who are actually going to consume your product.
In the case of a Health Spa, not everyone is health conscious, so you have to target places where people who are concerned about their health hang out:
•Health food stores
•Pharmacies
•Vitamin Shops
•Doctors’ offices
Let the doctors, pharmacists and store owners know that referring clients to your facility will benefit them as well. After all, before beginning any exercise program, people are instructed to get checked-out by their doctor first and the ones who exercise regularly are more likely to buy more vitamins and supplements. Be creative.
These are great selling points that can be parlayed into an endorsement on their websites. Ask them if they would consider advertising your business in their offices and in their print ads as well; then place their banner in a prominent place on your website.
Step 3: Relationship Building
Network marketing is strongly dependent on finding potential consumers and then developing strong relationships with them. You must first offer something of value to them to show that you are a sincere and trustworthy person. The secret is to build lasting relationships that will help you develop as you grow your business.
Step 4: Focus
Try to stay focused on why you’re in business in the first place. Hopefully it’s because you are passionate about what you’re doing and you want to share that passion with others.
Think back and try to remember what brought you to your business opportunity. What was your initial attraction? Forget about the desire to make tons of money for now. Remember the excitement you felt when you decided this idea was a WINNER!
Step 5: Make Them Care
Network marketing is slow and, at times, very frustrating because you will be counting on others to help promote your business. And unless there’s something in it for them, people tend not to care about you or your efforts.
Your job is to make them care! Try to present your business in a way that makes them feel like a significant part of the process, then be sure to follow-up in a couple of days to see if they did what they said they were going to do.
Step 6: Multiplication
Try to influence at least 5 people at a time. Have those 5 people tell 5 more - and so on. This method will grow your business by leaps and bounds. Don’t forget - providing a quality service or product will get’em talking and keep’em talking for years to come.
